Everaldo Silvino dos Santos awarded his undergraduate course in Chemical Engineering by the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte-UFRN (1994) in Natal (Brazil), his MSc. (1997) and DSc. (2001) also in Chemical Engineering by State University of Campinas (Campinas, Brazil). He was a researcher visiting at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT/USA) in 2014 working at Prof. Kristala L. J. Prather group. Currently, he is a Professor in the Chemical Engineering Department at UFRN. Additionally, he has published more than 80 papers in reputed journals and has been serving as an editorial board member of many journals in the field of Biochemical and Chemical Engineering.

Major Research Interests:

Giovanni Vozzi was graduated in Electronic Engineering in 1998 at the University of Pisa. In 2002 got the PhD in Bioengineering at Polytechnical of Milan. From 2002 to 2006 he was Post-Doc working on development of microfabrication systems and on the realization and characterization of polymeric structures for application in the drug controlled release and in Tissue Engineering at research center “E. Piaggio of University of Pisa and at IMCB of CNR in Pisa. From 1/05/2006 to 28/12/2014 he was Researcher of Industrial Bioengineering at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Pisa. From 29/12/2014 at 31/10/2019 he is associate professor in Bioengineering; from 01/12/2019 he will be full professor in Bioengineering. He acts as supervisors of PhD students in Materials Engineering and Biomedical Engineering and  coordinates the work of several undergraduate students and graduate fellows. He was supervisor of 100 Master and Bachelor Degree thesis in Biomedical Engineering. He is Board of Directors of International Society of Biofabrication, of which he was founder, of IEEE and Of National Group of Bioengineering. 

I was born in Catania (Italy) in 1982. I currently work as a Senior Academic Researcher at the University of Catania (Italy). After graduation with honours in Medicine, I trained at the School of Neurology and I got the international PhD at the same University. As visiting Clinical Research Fellow, I further trained at the Department of Neuroscience of the Newcastle University (UK). In 2013 I was selected for a Scientific Fellowship promoted by the European Federation of Neurological Societies (EFNS). From 2013 to October 2018, I worked as a Consultant Neurologist at the Oasi Research Institute – IRCCS in Troina (Italy), which is a Collaborating Center of the World Health Organization (WHO). From 2015 to October 2018, I taught Neurology at the Kore University of Enna (Italy). I have authored more than 110 publications in internationally-indexed peer-reviewed Journals and Conferences or Meetings, and I currently serve as Editor and invited Reviewer of several international Journals. More recently, I also obtained the Master of Science (Level I) in Clinical Research, as well as the National Scientific Qualification as Associate Professor (procedure for the Italian University Professor position recruiting, based on rigorous criteria of scientific qualification).

I would like to become an Editor of this prestigious Journal for a number of reasons. First, given its influential role within the international network related to this topic, the Journal represents an outstanding chance to get connected with other clinicians and researchers from other countries. Experienced research scientist in the field of immunology and ophthalmology with a focus on understanding the pathogenesis of bacterial infectious diseases in the retina and improving drug delivery to the eye. Demonstrated experience developing and working with animal models of endophthalmitis, apoptosis, Epithelial Mesenchymal transition (EMT) and alkali burn injury. I have completed six research projects independently and in collaboration and published eight peer reviewed articles. My goal is to translate laboratory-based discoveries to therapeutics to improve the patient quality of life.

 Christopher  Yonan  have  Ph.D Director, Purification Development Oncobiologics, USA Obtained a BS in Biology from Wheaton College, in  Wheaton Illinois and a Ph.D in Biochemistry from Temple University in Philadelphia. My professional focus has been the purification and characterization of proteins. In 2003 I joined Bristol-Myers Squibb developing clinical manufacturing processes for therapeutic monoclonal antibodies, fusion proteins as well as small binding peptides. In addition at BMS I had responsibility for analytical characterization of early clinical assets. In 2011 I joined Oncobiologics Inc., a start-up biosimilar development company. My current role at Oncobiologics is the development of clinical and manufacturing processes for biosimilar therapeutic proteins.

 Dr. Hong obtained a B.S. in Biology from Korea University, M.S. in Microbiology from East Tennessee State University, and Ph.D. in Plant Pathology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He was an adjunct professor at San Jacinto College and a visiting assistant professor at the University of Houston Clear Lake. He has taught Microbiology at San Jacinto College and Biotechnology at the University of Houston Clear Lake. He is also an editor of ISRN Biotechnology.  His primary research interest is in the area of plant metabolic engineering. He has been a consultant in the Saylor Foundation since 2012. His book entitled “Methods in Biotechnology” will be scheduled to be in the press (Wiley Blackwell, John Wiley and Sons, Inc.) in April 18 of 2016

 He has over 20 years of experience in molecular biology and gene expression in the Biotechnology sector; Diversa Corp. (Sand Diego), working on recombinant expression of industrial enzymes and animal vaccines, Solexa Ltd ( Illumina Inc.) and The Dow Chemical Company/Chirotech Ltd./Chiroscience Plc. (UK)  where he worked on enzyme engineering for industrial applications including single molecule DNA sequencing, pharmaceutical intermediate production and assay development for drug discovery.  He received his PhD in bacterial pathogenesis from the Centre of Microbial Research and Microbiology, Porton Down, UK and has over 20 issued patents and pending applications in various areas of industrial biotechnology.

I studied in Applied Chemistry and Biochemistry Engineering Dept. of Kumamoto Unv., Japan and got DEng. degree at 2010.  Dr. Ozer Ozdemir received his B.Sc., M.Sc. degrees in statistics in the Department of Statistics at Anadolu University, respectively in 2005 and in 2008. He is currently doing his Ph.D. in the same place. He has worked as a Research Assistant from 2006-2008, as a Lecturer from 2008-2014 and as an Assistant Professor from 2014 to 2016 in the Department of Statistics at Anadolu University, Turkey. 

 Dr. Shun Luo graduated with Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from Virginia Tech. He joined Ares Serono, a leader in biopharmaceutical industry in the early 90s after his postdoctoral training at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Dr. Luo then moved on to biotechnology and biopharmaceutical leaders such as Beckman Coulter, JRH (a CSL subsidiary), Genentech, and Amgen with increasing levels of responsibilities. He's become a technology trend-setter in industrial cell culture media and bioprocess development. Under Dr. Luo's leadership at Amgen in 2009, a team of scientists developed a technology platform that led to a high yield cell culture process that produced over 11 grams/L therapeutic monoclonal antibody. Dr. Luo has more than 10 patents issued and pending. He has published significant scientific findings at internationally prominent and peer-reviewed journals and meeting proceedings. Dr. Luo is one of the very few thought leaders in cellular metabolism and cell culture technology 

 Dr.Hamed Shaykhalish currently working as postdoctoral fellow at Heinrich Heine University of Düsseldorf, Germany. I earned my Master’s degree in Biochemistry at University of Tehran, Iran, in 2009, and my PhD in Biophysics in 2014 from Heinrich Heine University of Düsseldorf.  During my PhD research, I selected and characterized several engineered binding proteins to amyloidogenic proteins, using Phage display technology and Biophysical methods. The identified binding proteins, termed as wrapins, show strong inhibitory effect against pathological fibril formation process associated with human diseases, such as Parkinson’s disease. Wrapins can also be used as tools for studying the involved protein-protein interactions.

 Expertise: Molecular biology, microscopy, qPCR, RNAi, systems biology, cell culture, Drosophila and mouse as animal models, mitochondrial iron metabolism, Drosophila spermatogenesis, mammalian and Drosophila cellular iron homeostasis, mammalian systemic iron homeostasis.

 Dr. Feras Khalil finished his PharmD study 2006 in Jordan. He then started his PhD in Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacotherapy institute at the Heinrich-Heine-University of Düsseldorf, Germany with a focus on the application of physiologically based pharmacokinetic modeling in pediatric drug development and research. After finishing his PhD in 2014, Feras is currently doing his PostDoc at the same university as a specialist in modeling and simulation and data analysis.

 Dr. Bart Haverkorn van Rijsewijk holds an MSc from Delft University of Technology and a PhD from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zürich. In 2012 he joined BP Biofuels and worked at the Global Technology Centre in San Diego and since 2014 Bart has been working for DSM Bio-based Products & Services in Delft. Bart’s primary expertise is on microbial physiology and regulation of central, redox and energy metabolism in response to both genetic perturbations and environmental vicissitudes typically encountered during fermentations. Enhanced understanding of physiology and regulation is subsequently used to optimize both microbes and fermentation processes towards increased production of specific compounds of interest.
